The North of Serbia is mostly flat and good for mechanized farming and particularly vegetable production. The Center and South of Serbia are hilly and mountainous, good for fruit production and livestock breeding. 55% of the surface area of Serbia (about 4,867,000 hectares) is arable and about 30% is covered with forest.
