The Press and Information Office (PIO) is the government department which applicates the government policy on matters of mass communications and has the task of the application of the press laws. The Cyprus News Agency (CNA) is the national subscription-based news agency of Cyprus. It focuses on events in Cyprus or on developements abroad that have bearing on or are of particular interest to Cyprus. There are 7 daily and several weekly newspapers published on the island. One of the dailies and two of the weeklies are in English. These are the Cyprus Mail, the Cyprus Weekly and the Cyprus Financial Mirror. The Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) is Cyprus' public broadcasting service, transmitting island-wide on three radio and two television channels (channel One and Two).
