Salaries

National monthly minimum wage as of 01/01/06: The minimum wage is adjusted for inflation and other economic changes. It varies between $54.40 (870,000 VND) in the urban districts of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and $44.40 (710,000 VND) elsewhere in the country. The official monthly minimum wage of the state sector is $28 (450,000 VND).

Social security contributions

Employer: 15 %.

Employee: 5 %.

Number of hours

Legal definition of full time work (per week): The Government set the workweek for government employees and employees of companies in the state sector at 40 hours and encouraged the private business sector and foreign and international organizations that employed local workers to reduce the number of hours in the workweek to 40 hours, but did not make compliance mandatory.

Retirement age: 55 for women and 60 for men.
