Currency
From January the 1st of 2002, the currency in circulation is the euro. There are some notes of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euros. The nominal values of the coins are the following: 1 cent (or 1/100 of euro), 2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 20 cents, 50 cents, 1 euro and 2 euros.

Transportation
Road
The road network covers 76,000 km, of which 44,000 km are tarred. The main roads are in excellent condition and they can be taken all year long with snow tires, which are compulsory from December to February included.
Rail
The Finnish railways cover 6,000 km, a quarter of which being electrified. In Lapland, the network reaches ROVANIEMI and KOLARI, on the Swedish border. Trains are fast and comfortable. There are high-speed trains PENDOLINO S220 connecting HELSINKI with TURKU, able to reach a 200-km/h speed. Daily connections in both ways connect all big cities, with sleepers on long distance trains.
Air
The airline FINNAIR has an outstanding network for domestic connections (21 airports). Cities are connected together with flights which rarely last more than 45 mn. The longest distance, HELSINKI-IVALO, lasts 1 hour and allows to save a considerable amount of time to cover the 1,125 km in between the two cities. It is possible to rent small jets with various companies.
