Hello International Traders!

If you are looking at doing business in Europe, remember the new members of the European Union. Romania is one of them. This country is a new market with great, as yet untapped, potential secured by the European framework of rules and regulations. Retailers must keep up to date on the international shopping center industry. The website of the International Council of Shopping Centers has the resources you need. Do you outsource services? Explore the Outsourcing Center online for all the information you need. Why spend a fortune for business software when many excellent programs are available for free? We have links to sites where you can download hundreds of business software programs at no cost.

And don't forget -- if you'd like more information about international trade, go to FITA's Really Useful Links, which has a link library of more than 8,000 sites related to international trade.

ROMANIA
Our Featured Country

Romania is a market of 21 million inhabitants. A member of the EU since 2007, Romania has opened its economy to trade and foreign investment. Many foreign companies outsource in Romania, since the workforce is low-cost and qualified. And Romania is a major European agricultural producer and a large producer of automobiles. Growth of production in sectors such as manufacturing, construction, retail and services are foreseen once the current crisis alleviates.

Romania imports machines, minerals, chemistry, computers, integrated circuits, aircraft parts and other defense equipment, wheat and automobiles. Main U.S. investments in Romania are in banking, energy, biotechnology, manufacturing, electronic components, automobile, telecommunications and film production. The business development policies of the Romanian government include tax reduction, support for private entrepreneurs, stimulation of free initiative and investments in transportation, education and other infrastructure.

For a comprehensive report about doing business in Romania, visit the US Commercial Service’s “Doing Business in Romania,” which includes the Romania Country Commercial Guide, a comprehensive look at Romania's commercial environment using economic, political, and market analysis. To identify potential business partners, look at the business directory “Major Companies in Romania.” And the website of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania offers several good reports that can help you do business with the country.

The Romanian-American Chamber of Commerce is a FITA member association. Consider membership if you are interested in doing business in Romania. And don’t forget FITA's Romania Country Profile for yet more Romania links and resources.
