OUR FEATURED COUNTRY: China
According to the latest data released by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the United States should take the lead over the European Union in 2013 as the top commercial trading partner to China. The European Union has managed to maintain its position since 2004. However, the recent U.S. economic recovery, driven by the real estate market and increased household consumption, is expected to boost imports from China.

In the first 10 months of 2013, the United States exported more than USD 95 billion to China (an increase of 6 % compared to the same period in 2012) and imported almost USD 362 billion of goods from China, a 3 % increase compared to the period January to October 2012.

In 2012, China was the third largest trading partner to the U.S. with 7.2% of total exports and 19% of total imports. Among the main imports from China to the U.S. in 2012 were computers, toys, textiles, telecommunications equipment and appliances. It’s important to note that these imported goods are made out of raw materials imported by China, from the US.

On the heels of the publication of results, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced that the country would impose reduced tariffs on the imports of more than 760 types of products, including components used in mobile phones, computers and tablets and various agricultural products in order to meet the growing demand of the Chinese consumers.
